Injury lawyers from Brown & Crouppen have filed a lawsuit in Illinois that could provide compensation to four people who were seriously injured by a poorly manufactured motorcycle. At Brown & Crouppen, our product liability lawyers have experience in handling cases where manufacturers put profits ahead of people and jeopardize the safety of motorcycle riders and the public at large.
The case filed August 26th in federal court in Illinois contends that the 2010 Harley-Davidson "Street Glide" motorcycle has a defective seat attachment. The accident in July 2011 happened when the operator of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle lost control after his seat suddenly and unexpectedly broke free. The operator and his passenger were injured as the Harley-Davidson crashed into another motorcycle, injuring two more people who were riding on that vehicle. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claim that Harley-Davidson, through reports of prior seat failures, was aware of the defect but failed to issue a recall or any kind of warning to those that had purchased these motorcycles.
This is not the first time that Harley-Davidson motorcycles have been subject to litigation. A Raleigh, North Carolina police officer was killed when his 2002 motorcycle, a Harley-Davidson Touring model, crashed after reportedly experiencing a high speed wobble[1]. The California Highway Patrol tested Police Touring models in 2006 and reported significant problems with Harley-Davidson motorcycles during the test. As a result of concerns after the testing, the California Highway Patrol no longer uses Harley-Davidson motorcycles for their patrol officers[2].
Midwest Injury Attorneys Brown & Crouppen are actively seeking out other people who may have suffered serious injuries if design problems with Harley-Davidson motorcycles may have contributed to or caused a motorcycle crash.
Our firm has the skills and resources to stand up against the largest companies when a manufacturer provides a defective product that contributes to serious accidents and injuries. We are skilled litigators who are comfortable inside of the courtroom and have the successful results to back it up.
