Chesterfield Woman Dies after Head-on Car Accident

After a month, a 50-year-old Chesterfield, Missouri woman recently succumbed to the injuries she sustained in a head-on car accident and died in a local hospital. The victim was a popular longtime math teacher and coach at a suburban St. Louis private school, and the accident stunned the school’s students and faculty.
The collision, which happened in Chesterfield, Missouri on Wild Horse Creek Road near the intersection of Riverdale Drive, occurred on Aug. 26, involving the woman and a 53-year-old man driving an SUV. The man, who collided with the woman at around 10:40 p.m., was sent to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Once he was released, he was booked on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
The St. Louis County prosecuting attorney’s office will determine whether to press charges against the SUV driver based on pending toxicology reports. However, police believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
The woman’s 16-year-old son was riding with her that night and was also seriously injured in the accident. He was initially treated at a hospital, but is now recovering from home. The woman also left behind a husband and one additional son and daughter.
Whitfield School, the private school in Creve Coeur where the woman worked, is now gripped with grief over her passing. Her colleagues knew her as someone who was always willing to help out when needed. She was also known for holding study sessions at a Steak ‘n’ Shake restaurant, a program that garnered much popularity among students.
Friends and family will hold a memorial service for the woman on Sep. 16. The school will be closed that day in her honor.
