$125,000 Car Accident Settlement After Minor Was Hit By a Car in St. Louis Area
Brown & Crouppen Law Firm secured a $125,000 settlement for a minor that was hit by a car in 2016 when he was 3 years old. The minor was playing on his tricycle in his neighborhood when he darted out from his driveway and rode under a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle argued that while he saw the minor on his tricycle, he didn’t have enough time to stop. A witness at the scene corroborated the driver’s account, placing the blame on the minor. The insurance adjuster later argued that the minor’s mom should have been watching the minor more carefully.
The minor suffered from a very large head laceration. In the months that followed the crash, the minor’s mother noticed behavioral changes. Specifically, the minor began to have angry outbursts throughout the day. He would also talk about the crash multiple times throughout any given week. The minor was diagnosed with PTSD. As the minor aged, he was diagnosed with an intellectual disability which his mother claimed was caused by the crash. His mother feared these behavioral issues were linked to the crash.
Before any settlement discussions could be had, it had to be determined if the behavioral changes were due to this cash. We were able to have the minor examined by an expert who determined that while the minor certainly had PTSD, his issues in school could not be linked to the crash.
Our legal team began negotiations again at the beginning of this year. Despite all of the issues with this case, including less than $10,000 in specials, our team was able to secure this $125,000 settlement. Mom was elated when she learned of the final numbers and was very grateful to everyone at Brown & Crouppen Law Firm for their hard work on her child’s case.
