THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

The team at Brown & Crouppen enjoyed another great summer with the St. Louis Internship Program. The program, SLIP for short, works in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis and places St. Louis high school students with participating employers for an 8-week paid internship. Our third year of SLIP involvement meant virtual internships as our office remains remote to ensure the staff safety while the threat of coronavirus continues.

This summer, our Business Development Department structured a marketing internship for our SLIP interns. The interns joined the team and quickly transformed into highly valued co-workers! Each member of our in-house marketing team worked closely with our SLIP interns via virtual meetings and a team collaboration platform. The interns worked in social media marketing, digital marketing, traditional media buying, community outreach, production, and executive support.

Their job duties included working in production with This Week with Tammie Holland, Instagram and Facebook support, and media buying assistance. Our interns developed a Back-to-School drive with our Community Outreach Project Leader and helped with PrideSTL planning. They attended all business development meetings, took notes, and contributed ideas during brainstorming sessions with Managing Partners Ed Herman and Andy Crouppen. Our interns also contributed to the firm culture, participating in our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and organizing our weekly All Hands meeting.

Commitment to the community is a priority of culture at Brown & Crouppen. Participating in the St. Louis Internship Program provided these students with career exploration and exposure to new opportunities, while bringing youthful energy and creative ideas to our business. Plus, some much appreciated hard work. We are looking forward to working with SLIP again next year, serving on the mock interview panel and participating in the summer internship program.

THANK YOU FROM OUR TEAM

Working together to build an eight-week virtual internship program positively exceeded our team norms. This blog serves as an opportunity to recap and thank our summer interns Aissata and Jamarria, for their creativity and hard work. Their meaningful efforts shine through Brown & Crouppen’s 2021 marketing and community outreach projects. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and hope to stay in touch for futures opportunities within our firm!

Upon learning that the Business Development department would be responsible the SLIP interns for 8 weeks, our team began prepping for their arrival in hopes to maximize their time and experience with the firm. I was pleasantly surprised by their ingenuity and professionalism from the very start. They were eager to learn and their ideas sparked creativity that tends to naturally fade from time to time. I still find myself reflecting who really learned more this Summer, them or me. Thank you, Aissata and Jamarria! I am always rooting for you.

Jamarria and Aissata performed nothing short of excellent work for us this summer. Both are bright, enthusiastic individuals who provided the firm valuable assistance during their 8 weeks with us. I admire their creativity and insight and will miss them! Thanks for another great SLIP experience!

Aissata and Jamarria are such smart, fun and amazing young women. I consider myself very fortunate to have met and worked with them, and I cannot wait to see where their futures lead. This was my first time working directly with our interns, and I feel like I learned as much as they did, and the experience has changed me and opened my eyes to a whole new perspective from our next generation of leaders.
