$300K Bicycle Accident Settlement For Client Who Was Hit By A Car Near St. Charles

Our client was riding an electric bike northbound on New Town Blvd. in St. Charles County when he was struck by the defendant making a right on red. Our client was wearing his helmet and in the pedestrian crosswalk when he was struck. As a result of the accident, our client suffered a broken tibial plateau, which required surgery. He walked 20 miles a day as an Amazon warehouse employee prior to this crash and had nearly $19,000 in lost wages.

Our client was marked at fault for violating the signal at the intersection and driving on the wrong side of the road, against the flow of traffic. A witness with a dash cam recorded the crash. USAA originally accepted 50-50 liability on their driver and our client.

The attorneys at Brown & Crouppen Law Firm submitted evidence that the southbound shoulder was closed by construction barriers and no pedestrian crosswalk existed on that side, so the safest route for the client to take was the one he was on.  USAA ultimately offered their policy limits of $300,000.
